Built in 2000 there are 16 self contained apartments, 4 one bedroom and 12 spacious two bedroom, all with balconies and magnificent views over the city, and beyond to the southern alps. Rhodes on Cashmere is certified as an accredited member of the Retirement Villages Association.
The apartments are architecturally designed to complement the original historic buildings adjacent and are beautifully appointed featuring double glazing, full size kitchen, spacious ensuite bathroom with level shower access, private balconies off bedroom and living rooms and nurse call buttons for emergencies.
Lift access to the 4 floors and basement car parks and internal access to the rest home facilities ensures maximum security and comfort. Facilities include garage workshop, cafeteria and sunny terrace, hair salon, recreation room and shoppe.
Outgoings are included in a monthly all-inclusive fee and covers such items as rates, insurance of the village buildings, exterior maintenance of buildings and grounds, rubbish removal, security monitoring, administration, statutory supervisor fees, heating and lighting of common areas.
The costs vary depending on the size of the apartment and are currently from $115 per week for 1 bedroom and from $140 per week for 2 bedroom. Car parking is available at a nominal charge. Electricity and telephone charges are additional.

Additional care services are also available on an ‘as needed’ basis. This includes meals, laundry, cleaning and some nursing services.
Apartment residents are welcome to participate in many of the activities provided by the full time Diversional Therapist who is based in the attached Rest Home.
The Friends of Rhodes support group of volunteers maintains a keen interest in the welfare of apartment residents and provides afternoon tea for residents and guests in the spacious cafeteria 3 times each week. They also operate the on-site shoppe which stocks incidental food, toiletry and stationery items.
The apartments, like most retirement villages, operate on a Licence to Occupy basis. Rhodes has a Disclosure Statement which details financial and legal information, and residents interests are represented by an independent statutory supervisor. Residents must be at least 65 years of age. The price of the Licence to Occupy varies depending on the size of the unit, and are currently from $250,000 for 1 bedroom and from $340,000 for 2 bedroom.
A ‘Facility Fee” is charged at the expiration of occupancy. This fee covers refurbishment of the apartment, selling costs, depreciation and also funds the ongoing development of the facility. The fee is 5% (administration), 8% for 1st year and 4% for each subsequent year but with a maximum fee payable of 25%.
